When you know the exact dates you will be here on Maui, give us a call on our toll-free number and let us know what type of trip you would like to book and when you want to do it. We require a Visa / Mastercard number to hold your reservation. Just check in with us when you arrive on the island, and you can pay however you wish on the morning of the trip.

The Ho'okela
When should I book?
All our reservations are on a first-come-first-serve basis, so it would be a good idea to give us a call as soon as you know the dates you will be on Maui.

What is the cancellation policy?
A 48 hr. cancellation policy is all that is required. If something comes up and you can't do the reserved trip just let us know outside of 48 hrs. and there will be no charge. All cancellations made within 48 hrs. will be charged full price. If a charter is cancelled from our side (i.e bad weather or mechanical problems) there is no charge to you.

Is the fishing any better at certain times of year?
Very simply no. The blue marlin, Mahimahi, and assorted bottom feeders are here in good numbers year around. Some of the fish are semi-seasonal in that more of them are caught at certain times of year. However, all the fish we catch here can be caught at any time of the year. Three examples are the Ahi, Striped Marlin, and Ono. We will generally catch more Ahi during spring and summer, more Ono during spring summer and fall, and more Striped marlin in the winter. There has been a 1000lb. Marlin caught in Hawaiian waters every month of the year, and this is the only place in the world that that has happened…. In other words anything can happen at any time.

What should we bring?
Food and drink, suntan lotion, hat, sunglasses and your optimism. We provide the rest.

Do we need any experience?
90 % of the people we take out have never fished like this before. Also, we have people catch big blue marlin that have never caught a fish before. We will explain in detail what goes on and demonstrate exactly what it takes to do battle these magnificent gamefish. The gear on-board is designed to make it easy for anyone, young or old, to fight and land any of the fish we catch.

Are kids welcome?
Absolutely. We have kids catch some pretty impressive fish all the time.

Is releasing fish an option?
We fully encourage tag-and-release angling on all marlin if that is what the angler wishes to do. We attach a national marine fisheries service tag to the fish, remove the hooks, revive the fish, and let it swim away. The rest of the fish are taken and kept by the boat.

Can we take any of the fish back home with us?
We now work exclusively with someone that can make your catch available for you to take home on the plane. Just ask us for more details. Also, if you would like some fish for dinner that night, we will be happy to fillet up some of the catch for you.
